Political battlegrounds set for SSA disability benefits

There is some interesting back-and-forth taking place between President Barack Obama and Congressional Republicans regarding the Social Security Administration’s disability benefits program. BenefitsPro reported that the White House proposed shifting payroll tax dedications from Old Age and Survivors Insurance to Disability Insurance trust “while a longer-term solutions to overall Social Security solvency is developed with the Congress.”

Washington Post spotlights huge SSA disability backlog

At our offices, we see those terribly affected by disability on a daily basis. Many will end up waiting months, if not years, to be helped by Social Security Administration disability benefits. In Cook County alone, there are 158,840 people who receive disability benefits, unable to work in due to mental illness or physical disability.

Be aware of the debilitating symptoms of migraines

This week, from September 7 through the 13th, it’s Migraine Awareness Week. While many may think of a migraine as just a headache, sufferers know that they can be debilitating, causing them to stay at home from work for days on end.
